In 2009, the National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior (NSSHB) asked 1,931 U.S. adults aged btween 18-59 about their most recent sexual experience. The take-home findings show that men are more likely to orgasm than women — 91% of men said they climaxed during their last sexual encounter, compared with 64% of women.

The only surprising thing there is that the female percentage is so high, in my experience making a woman orgasm is sort of like a solar eclipse: rare, but amazing when it happens.

Interestingly enough, there was also a gap in the perception of orgasms. 85% of men said that their female partner had orgasmed – a significantly higher number than the percentage of women who confirmed that they actually had.

Which means that a lot of women are probably faking it. Which, while we’re on it, is not helpful for the guy, the girl, or the next girl who comes along… so let’s nip that faking shit in the bud ASAP!

Surprisingly, the study found that anal sex appears to be the hands-down winner for both sexes — 100% of men and 94% of women say they orgasmed during encounters in which they received anal sex. However, these numbers are less reliable than the others cited in the chart because only 25 men and 31 women interviewed said they received anal sex during their last sexual encounter.

It’s also possible that women who try anal sex are more open to trying more naughty sexual acts, and may be more confident in bed, which might add to their abilities to achieve orgasm more reliably.

That’s not to say that anal sex, or any other sex act, worked on its own. The study suggests that the more sexual acts that were performed during the last sexual encounter, the higher the probability of climax. So if you’ve got a Karma Sutra lying around, it’s probably time to do some experimenting.

By the time those surveyed has experienced five sexual acts in one session, both men and women said they had orgasmed more than 89% of the time. I should bloody well hope so after all that effort!

At the end of the day all of this stuff is difficult to quantify as everyone is different. We all have different buttons that need pressing for different lengths of time, so don’t go reaching for the lube and planning your ‘anal is the highest probability of orgasm’ spiel just yet.
