Wentworth Miller Comes Out As Gay, Former Prison Break Co-Star Dominic Purcell Reacts

Dominic Purcell couldn't be happier for his friend and former co-star. Just days after Wentworth Miller came out as gay, his former Prison Break castmate told Us Weekly how proud he is of him.

"As a friend and someone I care for deeply, I am very proud of Wentworth," the 43-year-old told Us. "I wish him much happiness and peace. I applaud his courage and his stance against a wrongful, archaic ideology." The two played brothers on the FOX series from 2005 to 2009.
On Wednesday, Aug. 21, Miller, 41, came out as gay in a letter to the organizers of the St. Petersburg International Film Festival in Russia to explain why he couldn't attend an upcoming event.

"Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes," he wrote in the letter, posted to GLAAD's website. "However, as a gay man, I must decline."
Miller joins millions protesting Russia's controversial anti-gay laws banning the adoption of Russian-born children to national and international same-sex couples.

He added: "The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly."
