At the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga went incognito as Jo Calderone, her male alter ego. Opening the show with a four-minute monologue, Calderone told viewers, "Lady Gaga, she left me. She said it always starts out good. . . She said I'm just like the last one." The pop star stayed in character all night.
