In Looking Forward, 'Star Wars' Looks Back: 'Rebels' Logo and Art Revealed

"Star Wars Rebels" executive producer Dave Filoni ("Clone Wars") gave audiences at the Star Wars Celebration Europe the first look at concept art for the new Disney XD series that is heavily influenced by art from the original trilogy.
The series is set after the new series and leads up to the first 1977 movie, so it makes sense that it would heavily resemble "A New Hope." This is good news for fans of the original, though it is Disney, so the likelihood of another Jar-Jar Binks is still quite high.

Still, the show is called "Rebels" and it's about outlaws, not a Republic, so maybe it will be more "Firefly" than "Phantom Menace." The rusted metal look of the logo suggests the former.
The planetside TIE Fighter shots certainly reflect the scruffier feel of original concept artist Ralph McQuarrie:

"Star Wars Rebels" premieres fall 2014 with a one-hour special on the Disney Channel and the regular series will continue on Disney XD. It is executive produced by Filoni, Greg Weisman ("Gargoyles," "Young Justice"), and Simon Kinberg ("X-Men: First Class," "Sherlock Holmes").
